Matariki ki Mauao annual festival

Matariki ki Mauao is a week-long programme of events at the base of Mauao that involves early morning guided tours to the top of Mauao with star navigator Jack Thatcher, workshops for schools, evening archival screenings and a Matariki market day for all members of the family!
Matariki ki Mauao 2019 marks the 5th annual festival, and is back this year with more workshops and activities to share knowledge around Matariki, along this year’s theme: Tuituia a Matariki - the threads of Matariki.
Matariki ki Mauao will launch on Monday 10 June with a hikoi on Mauao with renowned star navigator and voyager Jack Thatcher. The workshops for schools will be delivered from Monday to Thursday from 9:30am to 2:30pm. Registrations for workshops are essential and will be open from 1 May 2019 on www.tpirt.co.nz.
The programme will conclude on Saturday 15 June with a Matariki market day which will include food stalls, entertainment, tree planting, games and more for all ages.
MAORIWORKS has been contracted by Te Puna i Rangiriri Trust to project manage this festival since its inception in 2015.
